Assam Pollution Control Board extends the validity period of consent or authorization to operate under various Environmental laws

The Assam Pollution Control Board (APCB) on April 24, 2020, extends the validity period of consent or authorization to operate under section 26 which specifies the provision regarding existing discharge of sewage or trade effluent of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, under section 21 which specifies the restrictions on use of certain industrial plants of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and under various provisions of the rules framed under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.

Whereas, due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, there is lockdown and restrictions in movement of personnel. Therefore, in public interest APCB extends the consent or authorization validity period for three months of all those industries or establishments having consent or authorization validity upto March 31, 2020 and have applied online for its renewal subject to the same term and conditions stipulated in the previous consent or authorization granted by the APCB. The industries are permitted to carry out their commercial production activity.

This Notification comes into effect from April 24, 2020.
