The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board of India (TNPCB) on April 13, 2020, issues guideline for handling, treatment and disposal of wastes generated to ensure safe handling and disposal of biomedical waste generated during the treatment and general solid waste collected from quarantine homes or home care and also to maintain information on each treatment ward, quarantine centres and homes. It had been noticed that the household (domestic) biomedical wastes such as Masks, Gloves, etc., collected by the local bodies have not been disposed through the Common Biomedical Waste Treatment Facilities.

Therefore, the urban local bodies are requested to collect the domestic biomedical wastes such as the Masks, Gloves, etc., and to keep the same at designated places in safe custody and to inform the concerned Common Biomedical Waste Disposal Facility operator for proper collection, treatment and disposal.
