APCB extends the validity period of Consent to operate and Authorization till June 30,2020

The Assam Pollution Control Board (APCB) on April 13, 2020, has decided to extend the validity period of consent to operate and authorisation for all the industries or establishments, due to the sudden outbreak of COVID-19 across the country. As per the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, it is mandatory to every industry to obtain consent to operate and authorisation from the APCB. Accordingly, the industries who have already obtained consent to operate from the Board with the validity period upto March 31, 2020 and has applied for renewal. Such applications are pending and inspection of industries are not possible due of lockdown.

Therefore, the APCB has decided to extend the validity of consent to operate and authorisation for all the industries or establishments having consent and authorization upto March 31, 2020 and have applied online for its renewal for a period of three months that is upto June 30, 2020 are permitted to carry out their commercial production activity.
