The Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (Rajasthan SPCB) on April 04, 2020, has decided to extend the storage period of hazardous waste beyond 90 days. As per Rule 8 of the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016, the occupiers may store the hazardous and other wastes for a period not exceeding 90 days. Whereas, the State Pollution Control Board, if desire, may extend the period in certain cases.

Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic and declaration of lockdown across the city, it is ordered to store the hazardous wastes beyond ninety days. However, the occupiers shall ensure that the hazardous wastes are not allowed to be stored beyond 15 days after lifting of lockdown. The occupier shall ensure safe storage of hazardous wastes so that there is no adverse effect on the environment or human health.
