Government of Manipur notifies lockdown till March 31, 2020

The Manipur Home Department on March 23, 2020, notifies lockdown till March 31, 2020.

During lockdown Government has taken various steps:

1. All interstate borders shall be sealed for movement of passengers by public and private transport.

2. All passenger carrying public transport and private vehicles within the State except goods vehicle shall be suspended.

3. All shops, malls, markets, commercial establishments, shall be closed except shops dealing with groceries / vegetables / medicine / milk / LPG / Petrol Pumps.

4. All persons who were abroad during January or February, 2020 and have returned to Manipur after March 01, 2020 shall furnish their particulars and travel history to the notified agencies.

5. All persons who have been advised home quarantine shall observe it very strictly. 

6. Any congregation of more than 4 person is prohibited.

7. All government and private offices shall remain closed except essential services

Any person(s) found violating the restrictions above, shall be prosecuted under Indian Penal Code: section 188: violation of order promulgated by the government, section 269: negligently doing any act known to be likely to spread infection of any disease, Section 270: malignantly doing any act known to be likely to spread infection of any disease and section 271: knowingly disobeying any quarantine rule etc.
