Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare Department publishes the Tamil Nadu COVID-19 Regulations, 2020

The Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare Department on March 15, 2020, has published the Tamil Nadu COVID-19 Regulations, 2020. COVID-19 means a Disease caused by infection with severe acute respiratory syndrone Coronavirus 2 (SARS CoV 2).

 Duties of Hospital: The Tamil Nadu Government directs all Hospitals shall maintain rooms or wards exclusively for screening of suspected cases of COVID-19. Further, during screening hospitals shall record the travel history of the person to any country or area where COVID-19 has been reported.

i. In case the person has any such history of travel to affected areas in last 28 days and the person is asymptomatic then the person shall remain in home quarantine for 14 days from the day of exposure.

ii. In case the person has any such history in last 28 day and the person has symptoms then that person must be isolated in a hospital and will be tested for COVID-19 as per protocol.

 Only authorized laboratories will collect the samples for COVID-19.

 Authorized Officer have right to isolate and / or admit a person who develops symptoms of COVID-19 in a hospital. 

 Precautionary Measures:

i. Any person with a history of travel in for a period not less than 28 days to a country or area from where COVID-19, shall report himself to the nearest Government Hospital or at any time, call toll-free helpline number 104 or report to the Control Room (04429510500,04429510400, 9444340496, 8754448477) at the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine or to the helpline number of the district concerned, available at the website www.tnhealth.tn.gov.in.

ii. Any person with a history of travel to a country or area from where COVID-19 for a period of not less than 28 days but does not have any symptoms of cough, fever or difficulty in breathing, will isolate himself at home.

 Dissemination of Information: No person / institution / organization will use any print or electronic media for information regarding COVID-19 without prior permission of the Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Director of Medical and Rural Health Services, Director of Medical Education or Collector.
