The Government of Karnataka on March 10, 2021 has issued the Draft Karnataka Planning Authorities (Amendment) Rules, 2021 to further amend the Karnataka Planning Authorities Rules, 1965. 

The following amendments have been made: 

• Rule 37A (1) (A), the table which specifies the local planning areas and the percentage of market value of the property, has been substituted. 

• Rule 37C (1), which specifies the levy of cess, has been substituted, namely: 

“The Planning Authority or the Local Authority as the case may shall levy development cess or surcharge of:

1. two percent of the fee collected under sub-rule (1) of rule 37A for sub clauses (i) and (ii) of sub-section (1) of section 18-A. 

2. one percent of the fee collected under sub-rule (1) of rule 37A for sub clause (iii) of sub-section (1) of section 18-A. 

3. five percent of the fee collected under sub-rule (1) of rule 37A for sub clause (iv) of sub-section (1) of section 18-A.

while granting permission for development of land or building.”

All persons likely to be affected thereby and notice is hereby given that the said draft will be taken into consideration after thirty days from the date of its publication in the official Gazette. Any objection or suggestion which may be received by the State Government from any person with respect to the said draft before the expiry of the period specified above will be considered by the State Government. Objections and suggestions may be addressed to the Principal Secretary to Government, Urban development department, 4th floor, Vikasa soudha, Bengaluru- 560001
